Acetic Acid 10ml

Acetic Acid 10ml

Acetic acid (CH₃COOH) is a simple carboxylic acid widely recognized as a fundamental reagent in laboratory research. Supplied here as a 10 ml liquid solution, acetic acid is valued for its versatility in chemical processes, biological studies, and analytical applications. With a distinctive sharp odor and high miscibility in water, it serves as a core laboratory solvent and reagent.

Research Focus and Areas of Interest

1. Buffer Preparation and pH Control

Acetic acid is frequently used in preparing acetate buffers, essential in maintaining stable pH environments for biochemical assays, enzyme reactions, and molecular studies. Its predictable dissociation makes it a reliable choice in controlled experimental systems.

2. Histology and Tissue Fixation

In tissue studies, acetic acid has been used as a component in fixatives, where its properties aid in preserving cellular structures for examination. Research laboratories studying morphology and cell integrity often integrate acetic acid into fixation protocols.

3. Protein and Nucleic Acid Studies

Acetic acid plays a role in precipitation and isolation methods, particularly in protein and nucleic acid research. Its inclusion in electrophoresis buffers or extraction solutions supports experimental work focused on macromolecule characterization.

4. Analytical Chemistry Applications

As a solvent and reagent, acetic acid is a core chemical in titrations, chromatography, and other analytical methods. Its reactivity and solubility enable broad usage across research protocols requiring consistent performance.

Conclusion

Acetic acid remains an essential reagent in modern research laboratories, with applications spanning buffer systems, histology, biochemistry, and analytical chemistry. Its versatility makes it a reliable tool for diverse experimental designs. For research use only.

Similar to Ethanol and water, Acetic Acid is a protic (polar) solvent. This means that it dissolves both polar compounds, like salts and sugars, but also non-polar compounds, such as oils.

Peptide solubility characteristics vary strongly from one peptide to another. Residues such as Ala, Cys, Ile, Leu, Met, Phe, and Val will increase the chance of the peptide having solubility problems. Some peptides have low solubility in water and must be dissolved in other solvents such as Acetic Acid for positively charged peptides or 10 % Ammonium Bicarbonate solution for negatively charged peptides.

Related specifically to the peptides that we sell, IGF1 Long R3 does not dissolve well in water. Depending upon the volume of water vs the quantity of peptide, and the time available, IGF1 Long R3 will eventually dissolve in water, but it is much more reliable using 0.6% Acetic Acid to dissolve it.
